Sexual Assault Nurse
Examiner
(SANE) Program
The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program provides training, coordination and support to SANEs across the state of Oregon. SANEs are registered nurses with specialized training and clinical experience in providing forensic examinations of sexual assault victims. SANEs are part of a larger coordinated response to sexual assault and therefore often work closely with law enforcement officers, forensic lab staff, child protective services, prosecutors, and sexual assault advocates and crisis programs.
